| About Us Our mission is to create compassionate consumers, one purchase at a time. You can start by buying the book that inspired this site, A Taste of Heaven: A Guide to Food and Drink Made by Monks and Nuns. All of our abbey food products are entirely handmade by monks and nuns in contemplative monasteries. Monks and nuns live a balanced life of prayer and work, and we think you can taste a little bit of heaven in the foods they make. Heaven Gourmet helps monasteries reach a wider market, which is essential for their survival. It also brings otherwise hard-to-find ingredients to the U.S. so that cooks can make all of the wonderful recipes included in A Taste of Heaven. A percent of profits from specially marked items will be used to help monasteries with special projects, such as building a new church for the monks of Mt. Carmel in Wyoming. Can you buy gourmet foods like fine coffees, teas and chocolates elsewhere? Sure, but why would you want to? The monks and nuns make the world a more peaceful place through their prayers, their lives and their work. And their products taste divine! Heaven Gourmet will also soon bring you artisanal foods and gifts made by small businesses and family owned businesses. We believe this helps to strengthen our communities.
